The Greater Prince William Veterans Treatment Docket is a specialty docket in the Prince William courts, established in 2019 with Supreme Court of Virginia approval. The county's April 2025 release describes it as a year-long diversion program that connects veterans with VA and other providers for substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders, such as post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury. Participants sign a contract, attend court regularly, take part in counseling and classes, and are drug screened often. The county says veterans facing charges from all levels of court can be referred, and that entry is voluntary. The docket team includes the Commonwealth's Attorney, public defenders, probation, VA's Veterans Justice Outreach program, and the Department of Veterans Services. Veteran volunteers serve as mentors. The Virginia courts' May 2026 directory of veterans treatment dockets lists it in the Prince William General District Court in Manassas, sitting on the first and third Wednesdays at 3:00 p.m., with a county coordinator as the contact. It is not a tax break or a benefit a veteran applies for outside a criminal case. A disabled veteran with no case in the Prince William courts has no use for it.
