Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exemptions are Georgia's: O.C.G.A. 48-5-48 for the qualifying disabled veteran and 48-5-52.1 for the unremarried surviving spouse of a service member killed in a war or armed conflict - the State entries carry the statutes, the qualification list and the yearly indexed amount. What Polk's offices add is the route and the county's own lines. Where and who. Tax Commissioner Amanda B. Lindsey, 144 West Ave., Cedartown, GA 30125, (770) 749-2125, [email protected], weekdays 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (closed for lunch 12:45 to 2:00), with a Rockmart office at 316 N. Piedmont Ave., Rockmart, GA 30153, (770) 684-3185, fax (770) 684-2575; the office's own site, polkcountypay.com, carries the tax search, the LGS Homestead Application link and the qPublic Tax Assessments link, and publishes no exemption text of its own. The county's Tax Commissioner page under polkga.org carries the county's own lines: "Residents of Polk County who own and occupy their home on January 1 may claim an exemption from taxation on the first $2,000 of the assessed value on County, State and School Tax. Filing for the Homestead Exemption on your home is done year round but must be in by April 1 to apply to that year's tax bill." The age lines: 65 and over - "a 20,000 exemption on School Tax, 4000 on County and house and 10 acre for state"; 62 and 70 - extra exemptions "if net income of owner and spouse is less than $10,000". The veteran line: "Residents of Polk County who own and occupy their home on January 1 and are 100% permanently disabled veterans are eligible for extra exemption" - the county's own text names the route and no amount; the qualifying disabled veteran reads the amounts on the State entries and files with the Board of Tax Assessors (770-749-2108), whose qPublic record-search site was not read (the gap goes to docs/COUNTY-REVISIT.md).
