Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Placer County describes its Veteran's Treatment Court as a collaborative, treatment-focused programme for justice-involved veterans whose military service may have contributed to substance use, mental health conditions or other problems, combining judicial oversight, treatment services, mentoring by fellow veterans, and accountability. It takes veterans in the pretrial process as a diversion programme and after a plea as an alternative sentence, the two routes in Penal Code sections 1001.80 and 1170.9; see the California entry. The county's page does not give eligibility rules, a calendar or a contact. Ask defense counsel or the Public Defender to request a referral, and the Veterans Services Office for help with the VA side.
