Pinal County Housing Authority Veteran Preference Point
One preference point on the Pinal County Housing Authority public housing and project-based voucher waiting lists when the head of household, spouse or co-head is a veteran. The public housing list opened July 20, 2026 and stays open until enough applications are in.
Also called: public housing, waiting list, project-based voucher, PBV, Section 8, Housing Authority, preference points, Maddox Estate, Eloy, Casa Grande.
The Pinal County Housing Authority owns 139 public housing units in Maricopa, Eloy, Casa Grande, Eleven Mile Corner, Apache Junction and Coolidge, with rent set at 30% of household income, and fills project-based voucher units such as the Maddox Estate Townhomes in Eloy. Each waiting list is sorted by preference points, then by the date and time of the completed application.
The veteran point. Every notice since 2024 gives one point where the head of household, spouse or co-head is a veteran of the U.S. armed forces. The 2026 notices give two points for an elderly or disabled household and two for homelessness, and one for a victim of domestic violence; preferences can be combined. Proof is checked when the name reaches the top of the list, and the notices name no discharge or rating test.
Open lists. The public housing list opened July 20, 2026 for units of one to four bedrooms in the six communities, and the Maddox Estate list for two to four bedrooms opened May 27, 2026; both stay open until enough applications are received. Households must meet HUD's very low or extremely low income limits. Apply online through the Housing Manager portal or on paper Monday to Thursday at 970 N. Eleven Mile Corner Road, Casa Grande (520-866-7203).
