Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Mo. Rev. Stat. 59.480 makes the recording of a discharge free and limits who may see or copy it; see the Missouri entry. The Recorder's page: "The Recorder's Office is also responsible for the issuance of marriage certificates and marriage licenses, as well as the recording of military discharges." Its Other Documents list carries the "Request for Military Discharge Papers", the Recorders Association of Missouri form: one record per form, the veteran's name with a date of birth, Social Security number or branch and dates of service, and whether the requester is the veteran or an agent (a relative, attorney, government agency or court, or funeral director), signed before a notary. The office. Robin Kordes, elected in 2002 as the county's first Recorder of Deeds; 573-458-6095, fax 573-458-6098, [email protected], Phelps County Courthouse, Rolla. The page notes the August 28, 2026 rise of $2.00 in recording fees under SB 938, which does not reach a discharge, and that the office has taken passport applications by appointment since January 1, 2026. The county's site refuses plain fetches, so the page was read through the Internet Archive's October 5, 2026 capture.
