Pepperell Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions (Clauses 22 to 22F)

Pepperell’s Exemptions and Deferrals page prints no amounts, its veterans’ brochure and application being the state’s own, while its Veteran’s Services pages record that the town "has implemented 22I and 5C1/2" without printing what they produce, so this entry gives the statute’s and asks the assessors for the accepted amounts.

Also called: property tax, clause 22, 22E, veterans exemption, assessors, Pepperell.

For: Veteran or service member, spouse, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Town of Pepperell grants the veterans’ exemptions of G.L. c. 59, s. 5, clauses 22 to 22F, through its board of assessors. The statute sets them as dollars off the tax bill, $400 under clause 22, $750, $1,250 and $1,500 under 22A to 22C and $1,000 under 22E, and exempts the whole domicile under 22D and 22F; a town can add to them only by accepting a local option, clause 22I, clause 22J or section 5C½. Every figure on this entry carries its source and the day it was read. The boards’ page names Maureen S. Bolger, Anita McHugh and Marcia Scofield the elected members, with Jonathan Blouin the Assessor, at Town Hall, One Main Street (978-433-0322), where the Assessors Department page gives the office hours and the fiscal 2026 tax rate of $13.78. Its Exemptions and Deferrals page sets out the personal statutory exemptions without amounts: the veterans’ clauses ask a 10 per cent service-connected rating, ownership and occupancy by July 1, and the statute’s own residency test of six months before enlistment or two years before application, with the state’s "Qualifying Veterans" brochure and Form 96-4 as the application. No amount of the town’s own appears and no acceptance is named on the page, so the figures here are the statute’s. The Veteran’s Services pages name Meg Murphy the Veteran’s Services Officer at Town Hall, One Main Street, cell 978-708-6932, Tuesday and Thursday by appointment, where the EOVS directory lists Meagan "Meg" Murphy with the same number; the same officer’s directory rows serve Groton and Littleton. The page describes the VSO’s filing of chapter 115 and VA claims as an accredited representative. Its 100% Veterans, TDIU and DIC dependents page adds that "Pepperell has implemented 22I and 5C1/2" without printing a dollar amount or the option’s percentage, and no vote was found on the town’s site, so the entry asks the assessors to confirm which the town has accepted. Chapter 115 benefits, the Commonwealth’s needs-based help with rent, food, fuel and medical costs, are applied for through Pepperell Veteran’s Services: Meg Murphy, Veteran’s Services Officer. Their amounts are set by the Commonwealth and are the same in every city and town; the statewide chapter 115 entry describes them.

The rating filter does not hide this entry, because several routes need no rating.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
