Pembroke Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions (Clauses 22 to 22F)

Pembroke’s fiscal 2027 exemption page prints $440 under clause 22, the statute raised a tenth, what clause 22J at 10 per cent would produce, and names no other veteran amounts.

For: Veteran or service member, spouse, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Town of Pembroke grants the veterans’ exemptions of G.L. c. 59, s. 5, clauses 22 to 22F, through its board of assessors. The statute sets them as dollars off the tax bill, $400 under clause 22, $750, $1,250 and $1,500 under 22A to 22C and $1,000 under 22E, and exempts the whole domicile under 22D and 22F; a town can add to them only by accepting a local option, clause 22I, clause 22J or section 5C½. Every figure on this entry carries its source and the day it was read. The assessors’ Property Tax Exemptions page, for fiscal 2027, prints “Clause 22 - DISABLED VETERANS $440.00 OFF” for a veteran rated at least 10 percent by the Veterans Administration, a Purple Heart, Medal of Honor, Distinguished Service Cross, Air Force Cross or Navy Cross recipient or Gold Star parent, and says other exemptions are available for more seriously disabled veterans and paraplegic veterans without printing amounts for them. The page names no local option, and no town meeting vote was found in the town’s online records, whose warrant list ends with 2019; $440 is the statute raised a tenth, which clause 22J at 10 per cent would produce, so ask the assessors to confirm the acceptance. The town’s site serves from pembroke-ma.gov, to which townofpembrokemass.org redirects. Chapter 115 benefits, the Commonwealth’s needs-based help with rent, food, fuel and medical costs, are applied for through Pembroke Veterans’ Services: Christine Callahan. Their amounts are set by the Commonwealth and are the same in every city and town; the statewide chapter 115 entry describes them.

The rating filter does not hide this entry, because several routes need no rating.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
