Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exemption is the State's: see the Mississippi entries on the disabled veteran and disabled veteran spouse homestead exemptions (Mississippi Code 27-33-67 and 27-33-75) for the amounts and eligibility. The county's Tax Assessor & Collector is where Pearl River applies: the Homestead Exemption page says applications are filed January 2 to April 1, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, at either the Picayune or the Poplarville office (owner-occupied as of January 1), and "if you are a 100% service-connected disabled American veteran, you must bring in your summary of benefits letter for the Veteran's Affairs office." The page also handles the 100% disability route generally (award letter with the disability date, TPQY or BPQY - "not the letter that states the dollar amount you receive monthly"). The county's Veterans Services Office helps gather the VA letters.
