North Carolina counties run these offices with State support; see the North Carolina entry. Pasquotank's is the exception the State's own pages describe: the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs' "What is a Veterans Service Center?" note says "Most counties in North Carolina also offer services for Veterans and support with claims and obtaining benefits. You can visit your county's website and search for 'Veterans Services' to learn what is available in near you" - and Pasquotank's website publishes no such office. The department's statewide map puts Pasquotank in Region 4, the Elizabeth City State Veterans Service Center: "Elizabeth City Veterans Service Center, 1023 US 17 South, Suite 2, Elizabeth City, NC 27909, 919-664-1150", one of twelve centers across four regions whose State VSOs "ensure that Veterans and their families are aware of and able to maximize the benefits and resources available to them". The department's toll-free line is 844-624-8387; its mailing address is 4001 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-4001.
The military county. Elizabeth City is "the officially designated Coast Guard City" and "home of the Coast Guard's largest aviation facility", as the Board's April 20, 2026 proclamation puts it - the county's veteran and service-member population the county's own record addresses through recognition rather than a benefit office: VFW Post 6060's Daniel Serik led the pledge at the June 15, 2026 meeting, and the new American Legion Building was dedicated in October 2026, named for Seth Perry.
Where. The center is at 1023 US 17 South, Suite 2, Elizabeth City, NC 27909; (919) 664-1150. The county's own offices sit at the Pasquotank County Courthouse, 206 E. Main Street, Elizabeth City, and the Board of Commissioners is Lloyd Griffin (Chairman), Clifford Shaw (Vice-Chairman), Charles Jordan, Barry Overman and Jonathan Meads, with Sparty Hammett the County Manager and Lynn Scott the Clerk to the Board.
