Park County Assessor (Terry Call): the Veterans' Exemption, on the Home or $180 off a Vehicle
The Park County Assessor (Terry Call; Cody 307-527-8650, Powell 307-754-8650) determines eligibility for Wyoming's veterans exemption, which an honorably discharged qualifying veteran with three years' Wyoming residence can take against property tax or, through the Treasurer, as 6,000 valuation points - $180 a year off one vehicle registration.
Also called: Assessor, Terry Call, Veterans Exemption, Veterans' Exemption, valuation points, 6,000, $180, vehicle registration, Treasurer, Barb Poley, three years residency, 39-13-105, 307-527-8650, 307-754-8650, Cody, Powell, Meeteetse, Ralston, Garland, Clark, Wapiti.
The Assessor's words. "What is the Veterans' Exemption? The State of Wyoming Legislature budgets funding to assist qualifying Veterans in paying property taxes or motor vehicle registration. Veterans must be a bona fide resident of the State of Wyoming for at least three (3) consecutive years immediately preceding the time of claiming the exemption. A recently discharged veteran with a home residency of Wyoming, with no break in residency, has met this requirement. A veteran previously enrolled in the veteran's exemption program who moves to another state must wait three (3) years after returning to Wyoming before qualifying for the exemption." The page points to the Department of Revenue's qualifying medals criteria, form and rules.
The Treasurer's words. On property tax: "Qualifying taxpayers may reduce their property tax liability or the county portion of motor vehicle registration fees. Individual eligibility is determined by the County Assessor's Office." On licensing: "The County Assessor's Office administers a program by which an honorably discharged veteran may receive 6,000 valuation points per year to apply towards property taxes or license plates. If using the exemption on licensing; the 6,000 valuation points translates into $180.00 per year off one of your vehicle registrations. There are certain requirements to qualify for this exemption." To enrol, call the Assessor's Office at (307) 527-8650.
