The office. Ryan Auld, Veterans Office, 100 SE 6th Ave, Mineral Wells, TX 76067; phone 940-659-1275, fax 844-638-7722, [email protected]. "Appointments are not required but are encouraged." Walk-ins: Monday 1 to 2:30 p.m.; Tuesday and Wednesday 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 2:30 p.m.; Thursday 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. "The Veterans Office is available to make home visits for housebound applicants." TexVet's county list names Clay Roundtree at the same number and address. What it does. The page lists disability compensation, non-service-connected pension, dependency and indemnity compensation, widows' death pension, aid and attendance and housebound claims, and Texas Veterans Commission programmes, and information on the disabled veteran property tax exemptions, education benefits including the Hazelwood Act, insurance, home loans, the veterans nursing homes, military records and discharge upgrades, VA appeals and debt waivers, and referrals to community resources (see the Texas entries for the State programmes and Government Code chapter 434). How the county funds it. The office is General Fund department 010-405, "Veteran's Administration". The FY2027 budget, adopted September 14, 2026, approves $60,234: the officer's salary at $47,151, with social security, retirement, longevity and $2,500 of required education. FY2026 budgeted $66,960, splitting pay between a $27,035 officer's line and a $24,145 employees' line; FY2025 spent $54,744.81, all of the pay through the employees' line. The change follows the Commissioners Court's December 22, 2025 agenda item "making the County Veteran's Services office a full-time position" (the county posts no minutes, so the vote is not on the site). On August 10, 2026 the Court took up renewing the VetPro annual licence for the office's software. Indigent burial. The county's application for indigent burial assistance asks first whether the deceased was a veteran and, if so, tells the family to "contact Veteran's Administration Office and apply for burial benefits at 940-329-1497", a number the application gives instead of the office's.
