The Fifteenth Judicial Circuit's veterans treatment court in West Palm Beach takes veterans with an open criminal case, combat or not, felony or misdemeanor, with treatment through the VA. Its 2023 manual says the judge admits with the State Attorney's approval and that the receiving VA programme must accept the veteran, so a veteran VA will not treat may be shut out. Fees must be paid before graduation.

The Fifteenth Judicial Circuit's Veterans Treatment Court, founded on November 11, 2010 and named for Judge Ted Booras, its first presiding judge, runs under section 394.47891 of the Florida Statutes; see the Florida entry. Judge Darren Shull has presided since January 2025. It sits every other Monday at 1 p.m. at the Criminal Justice Complex, 3228 Gun Club Road, West Palm Beach. Operations manager: 561-355-1656.
Who. The circuit's manual (February 2023) opens the docket to "United States military service Veterans who have an open criminal case or criminal charge", felony or misdemeanor, combat and non-combat, case by case, on the team's view of whether the person can be treated successfully and public safety. A participant may be required to plead guilty.
Through the VA. Treatment follows a plan set by the VA programme, and "Veterans accepted into the diversion program must be screened by the receiving VA program", which decides whether it can meet the veteran's needs. VA's Veterans Justice Outreach coordinator checks VA eligibility and enrolment before the first appearance and helps with benefit claims and discharge upgrades. The manual does not say what happens to a veteran VA will not treat, which can turn on the character of discharge; the statute sets no discharge test and leaves only a dishonorable discharge to the chief judge and state attorney.
Who decides. "Final determination for the admission of a defendant to the Veterans Treatment Docket will be made by the Veterans Treatment Docket Judge with the approval of the state attorney." Section 394.47891(8) makes admission the court's decision, with its team, and the state attorney's recommendation one of the factors weighed.
Cost. Participants may have to pay statutory fees and court costs, the cost of probation supervision and VA co-pays by priority group, and all fees must be paid before graduating; the court may convert unpaid fees to a judgment for a participant who cannot pay.
