Page County charges a $20.00 annual vehicle license fee ($10.00 motorcycle) under code sections 118-1 to 118-9 as read in a 2015 archive capture, and exempts a vehicle owned and used personally by a veteran carrying DMV disabled veteran plates under section 46.2-739, and vehicles with POW plates.
Also called: license fee, decal, vehicle registration, Page license, 46.2-739.
Chapter 118 of the county code, article I, imposes the fee. Section 118-2 assesses "a Page County motor vehicle license fee" on every vehicle normally garaged, stored or parked in the county on January 1; section 118-3 sets "an annual license fee of $20" on each motor vehicle and "$10" on each motorcycle, capped at the state amount on that vehicle. The current eCode360 sits behind a Cloudflare challenge that neither curl nor a headed Chrome window passed, so these sections were read from the Internet Archive's September 15, 2015 capture of the section page - the amounts there date to the article adopted November 21, 2006 as amended August 21, 2007, and the current text could not be compared; the fee's continuing existence is confirmed by the vehicle-license penalty and interest lines in the FY 2027 revenue budget.
Section 118-4(A) exempts, among others: (4) a motor vehicle "owned and used personally by any veteran who holds a current state motor vehicle registration card establishing that he has received a disabled veterans' exemption from the Department of Motor Vehicles and has been issued a disabled veterans' motor vehicle license plate as prescribed in § 46.2-739" (added 8-21-2007), and (5) a vehicle "owned and operated by a person who has been issued license plates evidencing the person was a prisoner of war". Volunteer fire and rescue members receive one free license on certification, and antiques are exempt under the section 46.2-730 conditions. A plated veteran is in any case outside a 46.2-752 fee by section 46.2-755(B).
