Otoe County pays aid from a Veteran's Aid activity in the General Fund (0100-802) whose one funded line, Public Assistance - Provisions, is budgeted at $10,000.00 for 2025-2026 as it was for 2024-2025; the actual columns show $0.00 spent in 2023-2024 and $0.00 in 2024-2025. The officer's quarterly reports to the Board mention veterans' aid without figures. Who qualifies. Section 80-102 lets the county veterans service committee aid a veteran, a spouse, a surviving spouse or a minor child in need. Since LB1300 (Laws 2024, section 45) the veteran need only have served, been discharged honorable or general (under honorable conditions) or died in service, and lived a year in Nebraska and six months in the county; there is no wartime test.
