Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Orleans County has no county government of its own; the state's county offices are the elected State's Attorney and the sheriff. The State's Attorney's staff list on the Department of State's Attorneys and Sheriffs' site - four deputies, three victim advocates and support staff at 5086 US Route 5, Suite 2, Newport - names no veteran role. The sheriff's office (Sheriff Jennifer Harlow, 5578 Route 5, Derby) publishes its own site with its divisions, contracts and statistics, and names no veteran programme. The claims route the State publishes is the Office of Veterans Affairs' certified service officers, who serve every county from Montpelier by appointment at 802-828-1082; the Office is at 118 State Street, Montpelier, (802) 828-3379, toll free in Vermont (888) 666-9844, office hours Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Office also verifies eligibility for the disabled veteran property tax exemption, applied for through the Office and not through any local office. For an Orleans County veteran in crisis, the Office's own crisis page names the 24-hour local line at Newport, (802) 334-5246, alongside 988 then 1, 911 and 211. No veterans treatment docket sits in the county: the Judiciary's current list carries no veterans track anywhere in the state.
