Orange County Parks: Free Lifetime Entry Pass for Veterans and Military
Orange County Parks and Recreation gives a free lifetime entry pass for Kelly Park, Moss Park and Fort Gatlin Pool to honorably discharged veterans, active duty, Guard and reserve members, and surviving spouses and parents of members who fell in combat. No rating is needed.
Also called: parks, Kelly Park, Moss Park, Fort Gatlin Pool, lifetime pass, entry pass, Gold Star, V designation.
Orange County Parks and Recreation charges entry at Kelly Park, Moss Park and Fort Gatlin Pool. Its Lifetime Entry Pass covers the entry fee at those three for:
- an active duty or honorably discharged veteran of the Armed Forces, the National Guard or a reserve component, "with or without a service-connected disability"; service in a war zone is not required;
- the surviving spouse or parent of a member of the Armed Forces, reserves or Guard who fell in combat (and of Florida law enforcement officers, firefighters and paramedics who died in the line of duty).
What it covers. At Kelly and Moss Parks, everyone in the pass holder's vehicle; at Fort Gatlin Pool, up to eight immediate family members. It does not cover camping, firewood or programme fees, and without the pass in hand the entry fee must be paid, with no refund later.
Applying. Send the registration form with a Florida driver licence or ID and one proof of service: a current military ID, a DD-214 showing Honorable, other current DoD, Homeland Security or VA documentation, or a Florida licence or ID with the "V" veteran designation. Gold Star families send the casualty report, final DD-214 or overseas death certificate and proof of the relationship. Post to Parks and Recreation, Attn: Lifetime Entrance Pass, 4801 W. Colonial Drive, Orlando 32808, or email [email protected] (407-836-6200).
The free lifetime state park pass is a separate Florida benefit; see the Florida entry.
