Where it applies

The county's page: "The Oneida County Veterans Capital Restoration Matching Grant Program was established to support the preservation, repair, restoration, and modernization of facilities owned and operated by veterans organizations throughout Oneida County. The program recognizes the important role these organizations play in honoring veterans, supporting military families, and serving as valued community gathering spaces." Who qualifies. "Chartered American Legion Posts; Chartered Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Posts; Other recognized veterans organizations approved by Oneida County" - and the organisation must "be physically located within Oneida County; own or maintain long-term control of the facility where improvements are proposed; be in good standing with their parent organization." What it pays for. Fourteen named categories: roof replacement or repair; HVAC systems; plumbing or electrical upgrades; windows and doors; accessibility improvements (ADA); parking lot repairs; structural stabilization; exterior restoration; interior rehabilitation; kitchen or bathroom modernization; heating system replacement; energy efficiency upgrade; emergency repairs; and building code compliance improvements. Not eligible: routine operating expenses, payroll or staffing, utilities, untied furniture or decor, alcohol-related improvements, programming or event costs, and work done without prior approval. How much and how. "The Veterans Capital Restoration Matching Grant Program provides reimbursement for up to 50% of eligible project costs after completion of approved work and submission of required documentation. Grant awards range from a minimum of $2,500 to a maximum of $50,000 per applicant per funding round." The page's example: a $20,000 project draws $10,000 of county reimbursement against a $10,000 applicant match, and the match can be cash, donated materials, donated professional services, volunteer labour or other grants, documented with the application. "Applications may be accepted on a rolling basis until available program funds have been exhausted."
