What the county posts. Oldham County's site - its menus, the County Judge's and Commissioners Court pages and the elected officials directory - has no veterans page and names no veterans service officer. How the county funds it. The FY 2026-27 budget (October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2027; the Commissioners Court adopted it on August 10, 2026, the certificate signed by County Judge Shawn Ballew and County Auditor Sherri Johnson) carries a "Veterans Service Officer (9900)" department under Other General Administration: a salary of $3,210.00, FICA of $246.00 and travel of $1,000.00, $4,456.00 in all, the same as the 2025-26 budget (actual spending was $3,455.64 in 2022-23 and $3,950.64 in 2023-24). The proposed budget's worksheet, run July 28, 2026, shows nothing spent from the salary line in 2025-26 by then. A county of under 200,000 people is not required to keep an officer (Government Code 434.032). TexVet. TexVet's county list names James Peach for Oldham, at 806-346-2326, [email protected]. No county page or agenda read names him, so call the County Judge's office to confirm who holds the paid position and where he meets veterans. Where no officer is available, the Texas Veterans Commission's claims counselors help any veteran free (see the Texas entry). County contacts.
