Nye County Assessor: Veterans' and Disabled Veterans' Exemptions
The Nye County Assessor administers the State's veteran and disabled-veteran exemptions against real property, unsecured personal property or a vehicle registration, from offices in both Tonopah and Pahrump. The county publishes no amounts of its own, so the 2026-27 figures rest on the Nevada entries.
Also called: property tax, assessor, NRS 361.090, NRS 361.091, Tonopah, Pahrump, surviving spouse, Board of Equalization, January 15.
The exemptions are the State's, under NRS 361.090 for a veteran who served in a listed period or campaign and NRS 361.091 for a permanent service-connected disability of 60% or more; the Nevada entries explain them and carry the Department of Taxation's indexed amounts for 2026-27, $3,640 of assessed value for a veteran and $18,200, $27,300 or $36,400 at a 60%, 80% or 100% rating, and Nevada's rule that separate ratings are added together. The Nye County Assessor administers them.
What the county adds is the office, not the amount. The Assessor's Personal Exemptions page (read 2026-10-21) lists Veterans, Disabled Veterans and the surviving spouse of a disabled veteran among the exemptions the office handles and says each may go against real estate assessed value, unsecured personal property assessed value, or motor vehicle registration, with the dollar saving varying by taxing district. It prints no amounts, so the figures rest on the State's. Nye has two Assessor offices: Tonopah, 101 Radar Road, P.O. Box 271, (775) 482-8174; and Pahrump, 160 N. Floyd Drive, (775) 751-7060.
Appeals. A veteran who disputes the assessed value of the property takes it to the Nye County Board of Equalization; the Assessor's page says appeal forms are prepared at either office and the appeal must be postmarked to the Assessor no later than January 15.
Nothing local narrows or widens the exemptions. Nye follows the State's eligibility, its renewal and its vehicle-versus-property split without a county rule of its own, and the county's own page defers the amounts to the district and the State.
