Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Pennsylvania's veterans treatment courts are problem-solving courts of the county's judicial district; the Pennsylvania entry explains them. The Unified Judicial System's list of treatment courts as of September 14, 2026 names Northumberland among the veterans courts, started in 2011, beside the county's drug (2005), DUI (2007), mental health (2007) and family drug (2018) courts. How to apply. The county's Treatment Court Application (posted with the criminal court forms; the file is dated October 7, 2026) is one form for all of the treatment courts. It asks: "If you are a US Veteran, list branch and years of service", with docket numbers and charges, mental health diagnoses and medications, drug use and past treatment, and is submitted to the Adult Probation and Parole Department. By signing, the defendant waives the Rule 600 speedy-trial clock from the application until placement or denial. The probation office sends copies to Drug and Alcohol, the District Attorney and the VA's Veterans Justice Outreach specialist ("Copy to D&A, DA, VJO") before the team reviews it, and the county's application for a trial continuance asks that a pending treatment court application be attached. Who runs it. The Unified Judicial System's coordinators list (October 25, 2021) names the Adult Probation and Parole supervisor for the drug, DUI, behavioral health and veterans courts. The county does not publish the court's eligibility rules or a handbook; ask Adult Probation and Parole, 322 North Second Street, 4th Floor, Sunbury, PA 17801, 570-495-2339, or defence counsel.
