Northborough Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions (Clauses 22 to 22F)

Northborough’s own FY2027 chart prints $400 to $800 + COLA under clause 22 and $1,000 to $2,000 + COLA under 22E - the statutes doubled with the cost-of-living increase on top - and its 2025 Annual Town Report records town meeting’s acceptance of clause 22I, but no record of a doubling acceptance was found on the site whose HTML blocks, so this entry asks the assessors what the range’s upper figures rest on.

Also called: property tax, clause 22, 22E, veterans exemption, assessors, Northborough.

For: Veteran or service member, spouse, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Town of Northborough grants the veterans’ exemptions of G.L. c. 59, s. 5, clauses 22 to 22F, through its board of assessors. The statute sets them as dollars off the tax bill, $400 under clause 22, $750, $1,250 and $1,500 under 22A to 22C and $1,000 under 22E, and exempts the whole domicile under 22D and 22F; a town can add to them only by accepting a local option, clause 22I, clause 22J or section 5C½. Every figure on this entry carries its source and the day it was read. www.northboroughma.gov serves a Cloudflare challenge that does not clear to curl or to the automated browser alike, its checkbox looping back after every click (issue #409), while the site’s /sites/g/files asset paths answer curl. The town’s "NORTHBOROUGH PROPERTY TAX RELIEF FISCAL YEAR 2027" chart, chart_fy2027.pdf, prints, for the veterans’ clauses, "22 - $400 to $800 + COLA" and "22E - $1000 to $2000 + COLA" beside 22D and 22H full exemptions, 17D at "$175 to $350" and 37 at "$437.50 to $875", and carries the statute’s current residence test, "Domiciled in MA for > 2 years or for 6 months before entering service", with a soft deadline of November 9 and a final deadline of April 1; its footer names the Northborough Assessors Department at 508-393-5006. The town’s 2025 Annual Town Report records, in its warrant results summary, that Article 14, Senior Tax Relief, passed at the 2025 Annual Town Meeting: the motion increased the clause 41A income limit and accepted clause 22I, the HERO Act’s annual cost-of-living increase, effective for exemptions granted for any fiscal year beginning on or after July 1, 2025. The chart names no option behind its $800 and $2,000 figures, and no record of a clause 22J acceptance was found on the site’s searchable pages, so the entry asks the assessors whether the town has accepted the doubling. The town’s Veterans’ Agent page, read through the search engine’s index of the live site because the HTML blocks, describes the Central Massachusetts Regional Veterans’ District, Grafton, Northborough, Shrewsbury and Westborough, and gives the Northborough office’s hours, Tuesday and Wednesday 8 am to 4 pm at the Senior Center, 119 Bearfoot Road, on the district’s line 774-293-2208. It names Jeff Farrell the Director of Veteran Services ([email protected]) and Yissel Franco a Veteran Agent at (774) 808-6445, where the EOVS directory’s September 7, 2026 row lists Farrell on the Northborough row at Town Hall, 63 Main Street, on the same 774 number - the district’s own site, centralmassvets.org, resets connections to curl and the automated browser alike. The district’s section of the town’s 2025 Annual Town Report reports $45,176 of chapter 115 benefits administered in 2025, reimbursed by the Commonwealth at 75 per cent, and records the Wreaths Across America ceremony at Howard Street Cemetery co-hosted with the Vincent F. Picard American Legion Post 234. Chapter 115 benefits, the Commonwealth’s needs-based help with rent, food, fuel and medical costs, are applied for through Central Massachusetts Veterans’ District: Jeff Farrell, Director of Veteran Services (EOVS directory). Their amounts are set by the Commonwealth and are the same in every city and town; the statewide chapter 115 entry describes them.

GateRule
A VA rating, a decoration, or a surviving relativeClause 22 reaches a veteran rated 10 percent or more, a Purple Heart recipient, a Gold Star parent and the spouse or unmarried surviving spouse; 22A to 22E turn on named losses, decorations, a 100 percent rating or specially adapted housing. The rating filter does not hide this entry, because several routes need no rating.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
