Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The assessor’s Local Option Veteran’s Program application, a fillable form on the town’s site, records the amount of exemption granted as $10,000, with income received during the last calendar year listed from the federal return, non-taxable interest, Social Security or railroad retirement, and other income including veterans’ pensions and disability payments. The form’s filing status line offers married, unmarried and surviving spouse, so a surviving spouse applies under the town’s option through the same form. OLR’s 2023 survey recorded Newtown as offering the 12-81f wartime option at 10 percent of property value, with income limits it printed as $56,400 married and $48,100 single for 2023. Ask the assessor which basis applies now. The assessor’s forms page also lists an Additional Veterans Application, a scan without a text layer that could not be read, and the Military Exemption Form. The assessor page itself prints no veterans’ amounts, so this entry rests on the town’s forms and the survey. OLR’s 2023 survey also recorded Newtown as offering the 12-81h vehicle option, the exemption of one motor vehicle specially equipped for a disabled veteran.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
