New Hanover County Veteran Services "assists veterans and eligible family members apply for benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs and other agencies". Only New Hanover County residents are served. Where and when. 1650 Greenfield St., Wilmington 28401, phone 910-798-7611. Walk-in hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday to Thursday; Fridays are by appointment only. The office sends a newsletter to those who sign up. What it helps with. Disability claims, including PACT Act claims for burn pit, Agent Orange and other toxic exposures and claims for Camp Lejeune's contaminated drinking water; VA health care, education, life insurance and home loans; headstones and markers; copies of the DD-214; and the State's disabled veteran property tax exclusion. It does not issue military ID cards; its page points to DoD's ID card office and the ID offices at Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River.
