Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The service. The office's rider handbook calls the Nemaha County Veterans Service Office "a transportation provider for veterans of Nemaha County", with demand-response service and no fee, across "Nebraska and Western Iowa, primarily Omaha, Lincoln and Shenandoah, IA". Rides are scheduled through the office, 402-274-3419; the van may come 15 minutes either side of the pick-up time, and there is no service on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and the day after, or Christmas. On board. Service animals ride; other animals only in a carrier. A personal care attendant may ride with a passenger who needs one. Passengers who cannot use the steps may use the lift, mobility devices are secured, and car seats are not provided. In bad weather the office cancels trips and calls the riders. The vans. As a recipient of federal and State transit funds, the office adopted a Federal Transit Administration Title VI programme for its "Handicapped van", which the Board approved with the van's usage policy on April 8, 2026; the notice and the ADA manual are posted on the office's page. The adopted 2026-2027 budget pays the drivers $16,224.00 ($14,579.00 in 2025-2026), at the standard minimum wage the Board set in July 2026. On October 8, 2026 the office's 2011 Dodge Caravan was wrecked and declared a total loss; on October 21, 2026 the Board applied the $2,413.00 insurance settlement toward a replacement vehicle for the office.
