Naugatuck Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions

Naugatuck’s assessor gives the veterans’ exemption on a DD-214 filed with the Town Clerk before September 30 and takes the state additional veterans’ exemption, a biennial application with a financial requirement, between February 1 and October 1.

Also called: property tax, 12-81g, veterans exemption, assessor, Borough of Naugatuck.

For: Veteran or service member.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The assessor’s page tells a veteran of foreign war to file an honorable discharge, DD-214, with the Naugatuck Town Clerk before September 30 to receive the exemption on the next July taxes, and a veteran with an Armed Forces disability to bring that information to the assessor for a possible increase. It lists applications for the additional veterans’ exemption, which it describes as subject to a financial requirement, the 100 percent disability forms, including the D-2 for the 12-81(83) dwelling exemption, and blind and local-option blind applications. The additional veterans’ exemption is the state program under C.G.S. 12-81g(a): Naugatuck’s application is OPM’s biennial M-59a, filed February 1 through October 1, which counts all income except veterans’ disability payments and asks whether the applicant receives a 100 percent VA rating. The exemption is twice the one already received, for income under the 12-81l limit, $46,300 single and $56,500 married for the 2026 grand list; a veteran rated 100 percent qualifies at $18,000 single or $21,000 married. Naugatuck’s code, Chapter 17, Taxation, carries no veterans’ exemption section, and the borough did not answer OLR’s 2023 survey. No Naugatuck local option was found; ask the assessor.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
