The exemptions are Georgia's: O.C.G.A. 48-5-48 for the qualifying disabled veteran and 48-5-52.1 for the unremarried surviving spouse of a service member killed in a war or armed conflict - the State entries carry the statutes, the qualification list and the yearly indexed amount. What Murray's offices add is the route and the county's own answer. Where and who. Tax Commissioner Billy Childers, 101 S. 3rd Ave., Chatsworth, GA 30705, mailing P.O. Box 336; phone (706) 695-3423, [email protected]; "Monday-Thursday 7:30 AM to 6 PM. Please arrive by 5:30 PM if you are doing title work." The office's own site, murraycountypay.com, carries the tax search, the Homestead Application download and the tag routes, and publishes no exemption text of its own. The county's own answer. The county's FAQ, Assessor's Office category: "What are the requirements for veteran's exemptions? The taxpayer must be 100% disabled during war and must provide legal documentation from the Department of Veterans Affairs." The same FAQ sets the filing office: "Homestead exemptions are filed in the tax assessor's office in lieu of the tax commissioners office. Documentation of ownership is required. Verification of income is required for elderly exemptions. Call the tax assessors office at (706) 517-1400 ext. 2 for full details. Regular homestead exemptions may be filed online, but due to income verification you will need to come into the office or mail in elderly exemptions." The Board of Assessors - Mrs. Anita Thornton, Chairman; Mr. Joe Davis; Mr. Greg Baker - meets "3:00 pm, First Thursday of every month, Murray County Annex, 121 N. Fourth Avenue, Chatsworth, GA 30705". The assessor's qPublic record-search site was not read (the gap goes to docs/COUNTY-REVISIT.md); a qualifying disabled veteran reads the amounts on the State entries and files with the assessors.
