Montgomery County Property Tax and Exemptions

Montgomery County publishes its property-tax records and payment portal online, but publishes no exemption page naming the disability homestead routes, so a claimant goes to the county offices with the State forms.

Also called: property tax, homestead, revenue commissioner, ad valorem, disability exemption.

For: Veteran or service member.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The State exemptions are the substance here: Code section 40-9-21's complete exemption for a person permanently and totally disabled on the principal residence and up to 160 acres, and section 40-9-19's routes, as the State's principal-residence entries explain. Montgomery County's own site carries a Property Tax page with records, payment and the revenue office's contacts, but the page publishes no exemption text of its own - no H1 to H4 descriptions, no proof list and no renewal rule - so a veteran claiming in Montgomery County goes to the county office with the State's forms and proofs. Contact. The county lists the Revenue Commissioner among its county boards and offices; the property-tax records and payments run through the county's online portal. Ask the county's main number, 334-832-4950, for the revenue department's current desk.
