The Clerk's fee schedule (effective January 1, 2024) sets out recording, lien, assumed name, brand, plat, marriage, vital records and court fees and names no military discharge; the Clerk's page does not mention one either. Local Government Code 192.002 makes the filing free, Government Code 603.003 makes the certified copy free, and Government Code 552.140 keeps the record confidential, releasing it only to the veteran and the others it lists (see the Texas entry). A veteran asked to pay should cite the statutes. The Veterans Monument form asks for a DD-214 (see that entry), so a veteran who records one with the Clerk has a free certified copy to send.
