Monroe County (Arkansas) Collector: Disabled Veteran Property Tax Exemption

Monroe County's Treasurer and Collector, Steve Mitchell, at the courthouse, 123 Madison St., Clarendon ((870) 747-3819 on the Association's page, 870-747-3722 on the State's), takes the State's disabled veteran exemption on the home and personal property; the county posts nothing about it, and since Act 876 of 2025 the VA letter is a one-time filing.

Also called: property tax, collector, treasurer, DAV exemption, 26-3-306, homestead, personal property, Act 876, VA letter, Steve Mitchell, Stacey Wilkerson, Renee Neal, 870-747-3819, 870-747-3722, Clarendon, Brinkley, Holly Grove, Roe.

For: Veteran or service member, child, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exemption is the State's, under section 26-3-306, as the Arkansas entry on the disabled veteran property tax exemption explains: no tax on the home, its land and personal property for a veteran VA rates 100% permanent and total or pays special monthly compensation for the loss or loss of use of a limb or blindness, carried on by an unremarried surviving spouse and minor children. Act 876 of 2025 added to section 26-3-306(b) that the VA letter "is required to be submitted only one (1) time" and that "annual submission of a letter from the department is not required", from the 2025 assessment year, so long as you tell the collector if you stop qualifying or move. File again for a new home. The office. Monroe combines the offices: its 2026 salary list names Steve Mitchell "Treasurer/Collector", with a chief deputy and deputy collectors. The Association of Arkansas Counties lists him as County Collector at (870) 747-3819 (and as Treasurer at (870) 747-3722), 123 Madison St., Clarendon, AR 72029; the State portal's Monroe County page gives the Collector the 3722 number. The Assessor is Stacey Wilkerson on the Association's page and in the salary list, and Renee Neal on the State portal, at (870) 747-3847. The county has no website, so neither office publishes anything on the exemption. Bring the VA letter to the Collector, or have the veterans service officer ((870) 530-5899) help with it.
