Monongalia County's own government runs no veterans service office - the county site's search returns three results for "veteran", none of them a service - and the Department of Veterans Assistance has no Morgantown office. The veterans service function is the department's Clarksburg Benefit Office, at 153 W Main Street, Suite C, Clarksburg, WV 26301, phone (304) 627-2175, fax (304) 627-2177, whose service officers are Ronald Nelson and Barry Stull and whose veterans service officer assistant is Jessica Dobbins, serving Harrison, Lewis, Marion, Monongalia, Preston, Taylor and Doddridge Counties. The department's services are free to the veteran. Discharge papers. The county clerk's office, 243 High Street, Courthouse Room 123, Morgantown, (304) 291-7230, records discharges under Code 7-1-3LL - free, "upon presentation", kept "in a secure manner, rendering the records unavailable to the public". The clerk publishes a Military Discharge Record Request Form for copies, which requires a state or federal photo ID attached to the application and, for the person of record, no notary. The clerk's published fee schedule, effective July 1, 2025, lists no charge for discharge recording. The county commission's year is a verified negative: all ninety-eight regular and work-session agendas from October 2025 through October 2026, read in full text, carry zero veteran mentions, and the clerk posts only a latest-draft minutes file (September 30, 2026), so proclamations or reports unaccompanied by an agenda would not be visible. The county's thirteen posted ordinances contain no veteran provision, and the county is not in the Municode library. Monongalia County is the Twenty-First Judicial Circuit. Its adult drug court has no veterans track - the judiciary's FY 2026 map gives it none - so a Monongalia veteran needing a veterans court looks at the stand-alone Raleigh County court or a VTC-track county, with the court's permission.
