Mineral County Assessor: Veterans' and Disabled Veterans' Exemptions

The Mineral County Assessor (Kevin Chisum, 775-945-3684, Monday to Thursday 7-5) administers the State's exemptions from 105 S. A Street in Hawthorne; the office publishes no exemption amounts, so the 2026-27 figures rest on the Nevada entries.

Also called: property tax, assessor, NRS 361.090, NRS 361.091, Hawthorne, Kevin Chisum, plat maps, tax roll, surviving spouse.

For: Veteran or service member, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exemptions are the State's, under NRS 361.090 for a veteran who served in a listed period or campaign and NRS 361.091 for a permanent service-connected disability of 60% or more; the Nevada entries explain them, including the rule that separate ratings are added together. The Mineral County Assessor administers them at 105 S. A Street, Suite 3, P.O. Box 400, Hawthorne, NV 89415, (775) 945-3684, [email protected], office hours Monday to Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., under Assessor Kevin Chisum. The office's pages describe the assessment function - locating and appraising all taxable property, reporting the roll to the Department of Taxation and the local entities, plat maps added to the site - and publish no veteran-exemption text of their own and no amounts, so the 2026-27 figures ($3,640 of assessed value for a veteran; $18,200, $27,300 or $36,400 at 60%, 80% or 100%) rest on the Nevada entries. A veteran claiming should bring the DD-214 (or certificate of satisfactory service) and the VA percentage documentation to the office; the county's tax-roll and glossary pages explain the assessed-value mechanics the exemption applies to.
