Middleborough Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions (Clauses 22 to 22F)

Middleborough’s exemption pages name no clause amounts and its site answers a Cloudflare block, so this entry gives the statute’s, read through the Internet Archive’s captures.

Also called: property tax, clause 22, 22E, veterans exemption, assessors, Middleborough.

For: Veteran or service member, spouse, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Town of Middleborough grants the veterans’ exemptions of G.L. c. 59, s. 5, clauses 22 to 22F, through its board of assessors. The statute sets them as dollars off the tax bill, $400 under clause 22, $750, $1,250 and $1,500 under 22A to 22C and $1,000 under 22E, and exempts the whole domicile under 22D and 22F; a town can add to them only by accepting a local option, clause 22I, clause 22J or section 5C½. Every figure on this entry carries its source and the day it was read. www.middleboroughma.gov answers a Cloudflare block on every navigation after the home page (issue #166), so the Assessor’s staff directory, its exemption pages and the Veterans Services page were read through the Internet Archive’s captures of February 25 to April 11, 2026. The personal-exemptions page posts the state’s Clause 22 form and booklet with no amount of the town’s own, and the Veteran’s Exemptions page names only the clause 56 deployment exemption for National Guard members and reservists, so the figures here are the statute’s. The staff directory names Ross Lawrence the Assessor and Nicole Lesparence the Assistant Assessor at 10 Nickerson Avenue, 1st Floor (508-946-2410). The Veterans Services page names Stephen Adelman the Veterans Agent at 20 Centre Street, 3rd Floor, in the Town Hall Annex (508-946-2407), where the EOVS directory lists the same officer and spells the address 20 Center Street. The page describes the office as administering the chapter 115 financial program the law requires each municipality to have. Chapter 115 benefits, the Commonwealth’s needs-based help with rent, food, fuel and medical costs, are applied for through Middleborough Veterans’ Services: Stephen Adelman, Veterans Agent. Their amounts are set by the Commonwealth and are the same in every city and town; the statewide chapter 115 entry describes them.

The rating filter does not hide this entry, because several routes need no rating.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
