Medina County Auditor: Disabled Veteran Homestead Exemption and the 2025 Local Option

The Medina County Auditor takes the State's disabled veteran homestead application, DTE 105I, but its homestead page answers a Cloudflare challenge to curl and headless Chrome; the commissioners adopted the 319.304 local option on October 28, 2025 for one year, worth about $2,000 to each of the county's disabled-veteran households, and did not renew it.

Also called: homestead, property tax, DTE 105I, county auditor, local option homestead, piggyback, 319.304, 25-0844, unemployability, 100%.

For: Veteran or service member, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exemption is the State's, under Revised Code 323.152(A)(2); see the Ohio entry. File DTE 105I, with the DD-214 and the VA award letter, with the Medina County Auditor by December 31 of the year the exemption is wanted. There is no income test for the disabled veteran exemption. Where the page could not be read. The Auditor's homestead page, linked from the commission's site at medinacountyauditor.org/homestead.htm, redirects to auditor.medinacounty.gov, which answers a Cloudflare "Just a moment" challenge to both curl and headless Chrome (and the Internet Archive was offline when read), so this entry cannot say what the county's own page now prints; file on the statute's terms and cite 323.152 and 323.151(F), which counts a veteran paid at the 100 per cent rate for individual unemployability, if the office reaches for the income test that governs only the senior and disability homestead. The local option, adopted once. House Bill 96 let each board of county commissioners add a county homestead credit equal to the State one, without State reimbursement (Revised Code 319.304). Medina County's commissioners adopted it on October 28, 2025 by resolution 25-0844, for one year: about 11,820 households received it, most seniors and disabled residents at about $1,000 each and more than 400 households of disabled veterans at about $2,000 each, $4.5 million of tax relief that the county backfilled into the Human Services Levy at $75,000. The commissioners did not renew it for tax year 2026, when the State's own one-time homestead relief (see the Ohio entry) took its place, so the January 2027 bills carry no county credit.
