Maryland Purple Heart Hunting and Fishing Discount
Half price on Maryland hunting and fishing licenses and the associated stamps for a Maryland veteran who received a Purple Heart. The medal alone is not the proof.
Also called: Purple Heart, hunting, fishing, half price, DNR.
For: Veteran or service member.
Where it applies
Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Department of Natural Resources gives a Maryland veteran who received a Purple Heart a 50% discount on hunting and fishing licenses and the associated stamps and permits. The department hunting page says the discounted rate is half the regular price. The Purple Heart medal itself is not enough proof. The veteran still has to meet the other license rules, including hunter education when it applies.
This discount is not the free lifetime license. The lifetime license is for a 100% service-connected disability, unemployability, or former prisoner-of-war status. A Purple Heart recipient who does not meet one of those tests uses this half-price annual license instead.
