Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Illinois townships and counties run veterans assistance commissions under the Counties Code (55 ILCS 5/9-151 and the like); see the Illinois entry. McLean County's commission is a department the county budgets for: the county's FY2027 recommended budget funds "Veterans Assistance Commission Fund 2136, Veteran's Assistance Department 1065, Veteran's Assistance Program 65074", with totals the Executive Committee adopted in May 2026 - $945,597 for FY2027, up from $650,136 in FY2026, on revenues that include the county levy. The largest line is "VETERANS EMERGENCY ASST" at $550,000 for FY2027, double the FY2026 $275,000. The staff plan grows from four positions to six: the Veterans Assistance Superintendent ($83,591), a Veterans Service Officer III ($73,260), a Veterans Service Officer II ($67,805), two Veterans Service Officer I/Admin Support positions ($112,720 the pair) and a new Veterans Recovery Coach ($47,890). The commission's memorandum of May 29, 2026: "We respectfully present this license agreement to allow our Veterans Assistance Commission (VAC) to permit the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to provide readjustment counseling services to our McLean County Veterans in the VAC office located at 200 W. Front, Suite 400 D. This is a continuation of the current agreement with Veterans Affairs and assists [sic] our local veterans." The County Board approved the revocable license in June 2026, so a McLean veteran can see a Peoria Vet Center counsellor in Bloomington. The commission's own site and its monthly minutes are the route to its claim counts and assistance rules; the county's Agenda Center carries the budget and license records cited here. No veterans treatment court serves McLean: the AOIC's certified problem-solving courts map (September 2025) lists none of the four certified types in the county, and the 11th Judicial Circuit's own pages name none.
