Martin County Veteran's Officer (Jacob Reid), Stanton: Appointed April 28, 2026

Martin County's Commissioners Court appointed Jacob Reid as "the new Veteran's Officer for Martin County" on April 28, 2026 (3-0); the county's site has no veterans page and gives no office, number or hours for him, the 2027 budget adopted September 8, 2026 carries no veterans line, and TexVet still names Merv Miller at (432) 756-3711, a number the county gives for its Justice of the Peace office. The County Judge's office in Stanton (432-607-3535) is the county's general contact.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The officer. The Commissioners Court's April 28, 2026 agenda (item 11) took up appointing a "new Veteran's Officer for Martin County", and the minutes record: "Discuss and appoint Jacob Reid as the new Veteran's Officer for Martin County approved by Commissioner Snellgrove and second by Commissioner Stewart. All voted yes. 3-0." (Commissioner Koy Blocker presided as Judge Pro Tem; Jacob L Reid is listed among those who met with the Court.) The county's site has no veterans page and its staff directory lists no veterans office, so no address, telephone, e-mail or hours are posted; ask the County Judge's office how to reach him. The officer files VA and State claims under Government Code chapter 434 (see the Texas entry). How the county funds it. The 2027 budget (January 1 to December 31, 2027; the Commissioners Court adopted it on September 8, 2026, the certificate signed by Judge Pro Tem Koy Blocker, County Clerk Oralia Ybarra and County Treasurer Christina Day) has no veterans department or line among its departments, and neither has the 2026 budget. A county of under 200,000 people is not required to keep an officer (Government Code 434.032). TexVet. TexVet's county list names Merv Miller for Martin, at (432) 756-3711 - the second pay-by-phone number the county's Justice of the Peace page gives. No county page, agenda or minutes read names him; use the Court's appointment. County contacts. The County Judge's office, Judge Bryan Cox (administrative assistant Missy Villa-Hernandez), 301 N. St. Peter Street, Stanton, TX 79782; mail to P.O. Box 1330, Stanton, TX 79782; phone 432-607-3535, fax 432-756-2992; [email protected]; Monday to Thursday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., open during lunch.
