Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Maricopa County Parks and Recreation sells a Day-Use Annual Pass that covers vehicle entry to the regional parks, including Lake Pleasant, White Tank Mountain, Usery Mountain, McDowell Mountain, Estrella Mountain, Cave Creek, San Tan Mountain and Buckeye Hills. The pass is $120 in 2026, $140 from January 1, 2027 and $160 from January 1, 2028. A disabled veteran gets 50% off, which the brochure revised July 1, 2026 prints as a $60 discount in 2026, $70 in 2027 and $80 in 2028. The discount applies only to the primary passholder's pass in a household package, not to the extra passes, and not to the $40 hike, bike and horseback pass. It cannot be combined with the senior discount. Disability status is verified when the pass is picked up; the department describes the discount as for veterans with a service-connected disability and names no minimum rating. On Veterans Day the day-use entry fee is waived. The fee schedule says veterans enter free; the county's November 2025 announcement put it as all active and retired military personnel, a practice the Board of Supervisors began in 2005. Camping, ramadas, special use permits and add-ons such as boating are not covered by the pass or the discount.
