Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

In the City of Manassas the Commissioner of the Revenue, at 9027 Center Street, 1st floor (703-257-8298), takes the statewide disabled-veteran real estate exemption. The city's "Application for Real Property Tax Relief for Veterans with 100% Service-Connected Disability" attests to the original, designated U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs letter showing the 100% service-connected, permanent and total disability, and the application is "generally a one-time process" that need not be refiled annually unless the veteran's principal place of residence changes. A surviving spouse qualifies where the veteran's death occurred on or after January 1, 2011 and the spouse has not remarried. What it is worth. The tax rate for fiscal year 2027 is $1.05 per $100 of assessed value plus a $0.19 fire and rescue levy, $1.24 in total, adopted by Uncodified Ordinance O-2026-966 on June 8, 2026 on a 5-1 vote after a first reading on May 11; Owens Brooke Special Taxing District adds $0.068. Real estate taxes are due December 5, or in two installments December 5 and June 5 (section 110-2 of the city code), and the FY27 relief application covers the taxes due December 5, 2026 and June 5, 2027. A veteran rated permanent and total on the basis of individual unemployability qualifies; the city's own vehicle page states the TDIU path in terms, and the Department of Veterans Services treats that rating as qualifying.
