Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Mo. Rev. Stat. 59.480 makes the recording of a discharge free and limits who may see or copy it; see the Missouri entry. The Recorder's page names "Soldiers Discharge" as one of the office's three main areas and, under "Military Service Records", says a notice or document of severance or transfer from military service, "including but not limited to the Department of Defense from DD214, shall be recorded, free of charge, for any person of Macon County. The original document must be presented." Images or copies "shall only be made available to an authorized party by submitting a notarized request form to the Recorders Office, pursuant to Missouri statute 59.480", a law "intended to protect the identity of our veterans", and "There is no fee charged for Recording the original document or for certifying a copy for an authorized person." The page's "for any person of Macon County" is its own wording; the statute sets no residence test. Its "Discharge of Tax Lien: $7.50" line is a tax lien release, not a military discharge. Where.
