For: Veteran or service member, child.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The assessor’s exemptions page gives any honorably discharged veteran the veteran’s exemption on a DD-214 filed with the Town Clerk by September 30, says “the amount of the exemption may differ if the Veteran’s Administration has granted a disability percentage,” and adds that “the Town of Litchfield also has a local-option exemption for veterans” with “certain qualifying income requirements,” pointing to the office. A legal notice of August 17, 2026 announces that the office is accepting applications for Additional Veterans Benefits through October 1, 2026. The town’s Litchfield Optional Veteran’s Tax Exemption application, filed biennially February 1 through October 1, prints a married qualifying income ceiling of $67,200 and a single one of $59,600, and leaves the exemption amount for the assessor to enter; the state M-59 the office also posts prints none. OLR’s 2023 survey recorded Litchfield as offering the veterans’ primary residence option of 12-81kk, ten percent of the assessed value of the dwelling at income up to $50,100 federal adjusted gross income. The page’s local programs also include a handicapped equipped motor vehicle exemption, “a motor vehicle that accommodates the owner’s disability,” including a new or retrofitted vehicle for a child, and the active duty serviceman vehicle exemption at the total exemption of one Connecticut-registered vehicle. Litchfield’s code was found on no readable host.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
