What it is. VA's own page lists the Newport VA Clinic at 36 Southwest Nye Street, Newport, OR 97365, phone 541-265-4182, open Monday to Thursday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with "primary care, laboratory services, and tele-mental health services", and "NO EMERGENCY SERVICES are available at this location." It is a community based outpatient clinic of the VA Portland Health Care System. The building is Lincoln County's Health and Human Services, and the county's Coastal Healthcare lists a "Veteran's Administration clinic" among its services.
The county's contract. On November 5, 2025 the Board of Commissioners approved VA contract 36C26026C0003 with Lincoln County HHS for "Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) Lincoln County OR Primary Care Services to eligible veterans": VA supplies the primary care providers, and the county supplies the clinic, equipment, supplies and support staff, at a capitated $65.34 a patient a month for an estimated 1,380 patients, with service "at the Newport or Lincoln City Oregon Locations"; the base period ran December 1, 2025 to May 31, 2026 ($541,015.20). The same agenda approved Amendment P0003 adding funding to the earlier contract. The work statement also sets one clinic day a month in Lincoln City and Newport for mental health and social work visits for veterans who cannot or will not use telehealth.
Who can use it. Veterans enrolled in VA health care and assigned to the clinic; enrolment goes through VA (the county's Veteran Services office, 541-265-0570, files the application). Prescriptions are mailed from VA's mail-order pharmacy. Emergency ambulance costs are VA's only for a veteran rated 50% or more whose emergency is service-connected, with VA's prior approval.
Lincoln City. VA's page: "Our Lincoln City VA outpatient clinic has closed on March 31, 2026. VA Portland has reassign Veterans to other Primary Care Providers or initiate referrals to the community." The State's listing still shows a Newport CBOC at 1010 SW Coast Highway; VA's own page gives Nye Street.
