Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exemption is the State's; the Washington entry explains it. The Lewis County Assessor administers it from 351 NW North Street, Chehalis (360-740-1392). What the page says. By December 31 of the assessment year the applicant must be 61, 57 and the surviving spouse or partner of a participant, unable to work because of a disability, or "A disabled veteran with a service-connected evaluation of at least 80% or receiving compensation from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs at the 100% rate for a service-connected disability." The income limit shown is $48,000 (2023 income for the 2024 tax year), in three tiers of $34,000, $41,000 and $48,000. What applies from 2027. Chapter 200, Laws of 2025 cut the evaluation needed to 40% for taxes collected in 2027 and after; the 100% rate route, which reaches a veteran paid for individual unemployability, stays. For 2027 to 2029 the Department of Revenue sets Lewis County's thresholds at $50,000, $59,000 and $67,000, with $74,601 for the deferral programme, and chapter 163, Laws of 2026 takes Combat-Related Special Compensation out of income. A veteran rated 40% to 70% should apply for 2027 using the State's current form.
