The office files VA and State claims under Government Code chapter 434 (see the Texas entry). TexVet's county list still names Tom Nolen at the same number and address. How the county funds it. The office has its own special revenue fund, Fund 240, "Leon County Veteran Service Fund", filled by a General Fund transfer (line 100-4090-6030, "Veterans Affairs - Co."). The FY2027 budget (the county's year runs October to September) puts it at $18,871, against $19,218 adopted for FY2026: $16,000 of part-time salary, $1,224 of Social Security, $1,053 of retirement, $82 of workers' compensation, $12 of unemployment, $350 of office supplies and $150 of travel. The staffing table counts one part-time position. Until FY2025 the fund paid a monthly travel allowance ($8,000 in FY2024 and $10,000 in FY2025) instead of a salary. The budget's service table cites Government Code 434.032 and describes the office as help "for veterans and families seeking benefits, records, claims assistance, and referrals."
