Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exemptions are the State's; the Florida entries explain them. The Leon County Property Appraiser's exemptions page groups them under "Military/Veterans Exemptions", each with "March 1 is the filing deadline for each tax year." What it lists. A "$5,000 Service-Connected Disability Exemption for Veteran or Surviving Spouse" for a service-connected disability of 10% or more, proved by a VA or U.S. Government letter stating the percentage and effective date. A "Combat-Related Disability Exemption for Seniors" for an honorably discharged veteran 65 or older on January 1, filed on the DR-501DV with a VA letter. A "Service-Connected Total and Permanent Disability Exemption for Veteran or Surviving Spouse". The deployed servicemember exemption for the preceding year's qualifying deployments. And the total exemption for the surviving spouse of a member who died on active duty of service-connected causes. Proof. The office's own guidance asks for the letter from the VA or U.S. Government rather than a rating decision; the Division of Veteran Services helps veterans get it.
