Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The rules are the State's; the Florida entry on discharge recording explains them. The Leon County Clerk's official-records page lists the "Certificate of Discharge" and the "Certificate of Separation of Service" among the documents its Recording Department takes, and prints the section 28.2221 removal notice. Its recording-fee text - "$10.00 for the first page and $8.50 for each additional page", with a $1.00 indexing fee for each name over four - names no discharge carve-out, but section 28.222(3)(d) makes the recording of a discharge free to the veteran regardless; the county's board pays the clerk the ordinary charge. Removal. The same page offers two forms for veterans: the "Request for Removal of DD-214 (Military Discharge Certificate) from the Public Website" and the "Request for Veteran's Discharge Removal from Official Record". Section 28.2221(5)(a) bars the recorder from displaying a discharge on a public website, and the removal carries no fee.
