Lehigh County Veterans' Mentor Program

Lehigh County's courts have no published veterans treatment court; instead Adult Probation and Parole runs a Veterans' Mentor Program, since 2011, that pairs justice-involved veterans with veteran mentors to help them through the court, treatment and VA systems, free and voluntary.

Also called: veterans court, veterans mentor, mentor program, Adult Probation, justice-involved veterans, Allentown.

For: Veteran or service member.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Lehigh County Court of Common Pleas' Adult Probation and Parole Department runs the Veterans' Mentor Program, started in 2011 with the District Attorney's Office, defence attorneys, local programmes and VA. It pairs a veteran in the criminal justice system with a veteran mentor who helps with services, the court, treatment and VA, and with the move back to civilian life. Taking part is voluntary and costs nothing. Apply by sending the confidential Veterans Mentoring application to the Veterans' Mentor Program, 455 West Hamilton Street, Suite 307, Allentown PA 18101. Unlike Northampton, Berks and other neighbours, Lehigh's court publishes no veterans treatment court with its own docket, eligibility rules or phases; a veteran charged in Lehigh County should ask defence counsel about the mentor programme and any diversion the District Attorney offers.
