Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

No officer now. The county's Veterans Services page: "At this time we do not have a Veteran Services Officer." It adds a note on the State's disabled veteran and surviving spouse property tax exemptions (for a VA rating of 10 to 100 percent, and for the surviving spouses and minor children of service members killed in the line of duty) and sends questions to the Texas Veterans Commission, 512-463-8914. The Commission's claims counselors help any veteran free (see the Texas entry). A county of under 200,000 people is not required to keep an officer (Government Code 434.032). TexVet. TexVet's county list names Gina Streety for Lamb at (806) 385-4222 - the courthouse's main number - with a private e-mail address ([email protected]); no county page names her, so call the courthouse to ask whether anyone there takes veterans' questions. What the county budgets. The FY 2026-2027 proposed budget (the report of August 14, 2026) keeps General Fund department 5120, "Vet & Welfare", at $100,906 (against $97,786 for 2026): an employee salary of $45,191, $12,300 of contract and professional services, $15,000 for "Indigent & Paupers Expense" and $100 for "Indigent Veterans Travel Ex", unspent in the three years shown. No line names a veterans officer. The adopted budget is not posted.
