What the county posts. La Salle County's "Veterans Affairs" page names no officer, address, telephone or hours. It honours the county's veterans of World War II, Korea, Vietnam and Operation Desert Shield on four honour rolls, but its description of a "Department of Veterans' Affairs" is copied from a Kentucky statute (it cites "KRS 40.305 to 40.310" and 1972 to 2000 Kentucky Acts) and says nothing of La Salle County's own service. How the county funds it. The county budgets by calendar year. The 2026 adopted budget (January 1 to December 31, 2026, adopted December 8, 2025) carries General Fund department 103, "Veterans Service", at $14,424: $8,818 for "Regular Employees", $675 of Social Security, $931 of retirement, $2,500 of general supplies and $1,500 for travel and training, against $11,428 in 2025. Its personnel order lists one "Veterans Officer" at $339.15 for each of 26 pay periods; the 2025 order listed the post as "VACANT". Neither names the officer. A county of under 200,000 people is not required to keep an officer (Government Code 434.032; see the Texas entry). TexVet. TexVet's county list names Rickey Galvan for La Salle, (830) 879-3044, [email protected], an address on the county's own domain. No county page or agenda read names him or says where or when he meets veterans, so call first. Where no officer is available, the Texas Veterans Commission's claims counselors help any veteran free (see the Texas entry). County contacts. The County Judge's office, Judge Leodoro Martinez III, La Salle County Courthouse, 101 Courthouse Square, Suite 315, Cotulla, Texas 78014, 830-483-5139. The District and County Clerk records discharges (see la-salle-tx-county-clerk-discharges).
