The office. The county's Veteran Services page: "Veteran's Officer Jason Doran, Phone: (214) 850-7357. The Veteran's Office is open on the 1st Monday of the month from 8-12, or by appointment." The page gives the Knox County Courthouse, 100 W Cedar St., Benjamin, TX 79505, (940) 459-2191, as the county's address; it names no room or e-mail address, so call before going. The 2026-2027 budget (October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2027; on the Court's September 11, 2026 special meeting agenda for approval) carries a "County Veteran Office" department of $7,272, the same as 2025-2026: a salary of $4,735 (listed as "Veterans Admin Salary" in the salary schedule), $500 of travel and education and smaller lines. A county of under 200,000 people is not required to keep an officer (Government Code 434.032). The memorial. The page tells of the veterans memorial at the southeast corner of State Highway 6 (the Texas Korean Veterans Memorial Highway) and US Highway 82 in Benjamin, built with private donations and the labor of Knox County citizens, which lists on granite monoliths every veteran with ties to the county that the Historical Commission could certify, from the Civil War to September 1, 2000. The Court's December 8, 2025 agenda took up appointing Jason Doran to the Knox County Historical Commission Board. TexVet. TexVet's county list has no entry for Knox County; use the county's page.
