Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exemption is the State's, ORS 307.250, which the Oregon entry describes; the Klamath County Assessor's page states the local administration. Veterans who qualify must meet three requirements: own and live in their Klamath County home as their primary residence; be certified as 40 percent or more disabled by the Department of Veteran Affairs, the U.S. Armed Forces, or an independent licensed physician - and a veteran certified by an independent licensed physician must also meet an income requirement, about which the page says to contact the Assessor's Office; and have received an honorable discharge from active duty and meet at least one of the statutory service tests the page lists: served at least 91 consecutive days beginning on or before January 31, 1955, or 179 consecutive days beginning after that date; served 178 days or less and was discharged under honorable conditions because of a service-connected disability or has a VA disability rating; served at least one day in a combat zone; received a combat or campaign ribbon or expeditionary medal; or is receiving a nonservice-connected VA pension. Surviving spouses and partners qualify on two requirements: own and live in the Klamath County home as a primary residence, and be the surviving spouse or partner (per HB 2007) of a qualified veteran as described for veterans. The page sits in the Assessor's Property Tax Exemptions & Deferrals section alongside the active-duty military service member exemption.
